Spectator Cat Show Guide

Trifold brochure (this is the front, center back, and right inside) to explain to the general public what they are seeing as they explore the cat show. It is a lot of information for a rather small space!

Carolina Counseling and Theraputics Website

Website for a counselor working with substance abuse clients. She wanted it to feel accessable and non-judgmental. I love the clean modern look to it. See the logo elsewher in my portfolio.

Cat Talk cover

Winner of the 2019 Cat Writers' Association Muse Medallion (best in class) in the digital art category. The original photo was just the cat reaching up. I added the falling leaves and frosty overlay and enhanced the background. It just reminds me of a spectacular, frosty autumn day.

Conference Logo

For a national meeting, held in Atlanta. The idea was to focus on the conference city, and use symbols of the city. Georgia of course is the "Peachtree State" so I used a peach for the shape and colors. Atlanta's Hartsfield Jackson airport is the busiest airport in the world and home to Delta Airlines, so I included the plane. The event committee members lived in Altanta and wanted to represent the city's iconic skyline/buildings. THAT was the toughest part of this logo, and I had some doubts - but everyone was thrilled with the result.

Furwood Forest Website

The business owner creates one of a kind rustic cat trees from real tree branches and rugs. The site had to both reflect that rustic quality AND be easily updateable to feature new trees as he created them. It also has several photo galleries featuring some of the more unique trees that he's built, and LOTS of buyers' photos of their cats enjoying the trees. Created and maintain this WordPress-based site; click on photo to go there.

Awards Booklet Cover (wraparound)

It was a challenge to pull a diverse group of photos together for the front and back of this awards booklet! What I soon realized was that most of the photos had a saturated background which reminded me of stained glass. The four cats on the front cover were the four highest scoring in their divisions, and had to go there. Fortunately, the nature of the photos allowed me to lay them out rather organically, and I love the curved lines flowing through it.

CTTS Logo

Logo for Carolina Counseling and Theraputics. This counselor also has a grief counseling practice and wanted the two of them to somewhat overlap. The "teardrop face" is the common element. The the sole element for Carolina Bereavement. Here, it appears in the center of a lotus, a symbol of renewal

24" x 36" Sign for Show Decoration

CFA's largest show was held one year in Michigan, which is also where the Ocicat breed was created. It was a good opportunity to feature this breed as a show hall display.

Sunrise Cleaning Logo

A logo evoking everything that you want a cleaning service to be: bright, cheerful, inviting...and clean! What I like about this design is that it fits my definition of a logo: it looks as good on her business card as it does wrapped on the sides of her white car!

Retouching & Color Color Correction

Probably one of the most difficult things to work with in printing are black animals. They're difficult to photograph so that all the fur and body details remain visible, and often it requires special fill lighting. Although this cat was shot on a set, it's image still plugged up. And I had to have a lot of detail on it as it was part of an important cover shot.

Calendar Page - September

September is "Back to School" time, and this kiten has a full schedule! The books and pen are from stock photos; the schedule is all digital.

2015 CFA Annual - Toronto

The only direction which I was given was to use the gold lemniscate (infinity sign) in the logo as it was to be a symbol of the eternal friendship between the US and Canada. Hence, the star-spangled cat and Canadian red maple leaf.

CFA Southern Region

What better identity to use for a region located in the South than "Southern Stars?" I created this in the mid-2000's and it's still in use today. I love the lines in this logo: the sensuous lines of the cat, the way the tail curves left then right, and how the "T" continues that curve.

All American American Shorthairs

Composite of two American Shorthair cats on the Fourth of July. Background is a composite of several elements: the waterfront, multiple images of fireworks, and the clipart flag banner.

NovaBlue Cattery

Logo and website design for a Russian Blue breeder. She wanted a very clean design, and a website that she could post updates. Her logo depicts a kitten 'head butting' the name. I like the way that the various elements interact with each other.

Xocol Cattery logo

Logo for a Havana Brown cattery. Havana Browns are chocolate brown cats with green eyes. "Xocol" is the Aztec word for chocolate. This logo conveys both of those aspects, along with the glyph for a chocolate bean blossom.

September

I've used variations on this image in several places. It began as a cover for an October issue of Cat Talk magazine. I used a red tabby Persian and a patched tabby Japanese Bobtail and Oriental Shorthair with falling red and yellow leaves to evoke the feeling of autumn.
